Walk Well was about knowing Jesus. Give Well is how a family that loves Jesus takes care of one another. Generosity isn't a fundraising topic at Lifted - it's a discipleship one. Jesus talked about money and possessions again and again, because what we do with them shows where our heart is.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.Matthew 6:21
God Is the Owner
The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.Psalm 24:1
God is the of everything I have.
I am the - the Bible calls this a steward.
But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.Deuteronomy 8:18
Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.1 Chronicles 29:14
The question is not "How much of my money should I give to God?" but "How much of should I keep?"
Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.Luke 16:10
The Tithe: First, Not Leftover
The word "tithe" simply means .
A tithe of everything from the land . . . belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.Leviticus 27:30
The tithe is God's starting line for giving, given - not from what is left over.
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.Proverbs 3:9
The tithe goes to the - the local church where you are fed and cared for.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven.Malachi 3:10
It is the only place in Scripture God says, .
Isn't the tithe just Old Testament law?
- Abraham gave a tenth long before the Law was given (Genesis 14:20).
- Jesus affirmed it - and pointed to the heart behind it (Matthew 23:23).
- Under grace, the New Testament calls us to more generosity, not less (2 Corinthians 8-9).
Tithes and offerings
The tithe is returning God's tenth to his house. Offerings are anything given above it - missions, a family in need, a building, a moment the Spirit moves you.
The Heart of a Giver
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor.2 Corinthians 8:9
We give because God .
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.2 Corinthians 9:7
Nobody at Lifted checks what you give. Giving is between you and God - but we will always teach it, because it sets a heart free.
Practical Next Steps
A Simple Plan: Give · Save · Live
- GIVE first - set your tithe before anything else comes out.
- SAVE next - build margin so emergencies don't become crises.
- LIVE on the rest - a budget is telling your money where to go.
How to give at Lifted
- Online or in the app - set up recurring giving once and it's first every time.
- In service during the offering.
- Ask your class leader for anything else (stock, one-time gifts).
Struggling with debt or just want a plan? Financial freedom resources and classes are part of Give Well - you can come back to them any time. Ask your leader.
No pressure, no numbers, no pledge cards. Model it: share briefly how you started tithing. Note anyone who asks about financial help and connect them to the financial-freedom resource lane this week.
